Although serious issues with your sewer system can be a major cause for concern there is some good news for residential, commercial, and industrial property owners in the Houston, Texas area. Trenchless sewer repair can save you from needless destruction to your landscaping and hardscaping, thousands of dollars of your hard earned money, and a whole heck of a lot of time. The traditional sewer repair method requires the excavation of a large damaging trench in order to reach the sewer pipeline for repair. On the other hand, trenchless sewer repair relies on technology instead of excavation.
The traditional excavation method can take multiple weeks to complete by the time the trench is dug, the repairs are made, and the trench is filled back in with dirt. The entire trenchless sewer repair method is typically completed in as little as one day from start to finish. The traditional sewer repair method destroys landscaping, hardscaping, and pretty much anything else that is located above the sewer pipeline. Since trenchless sewer repair is non-invasive your lawn, your favorite tree, flowerbeds, mulch beds, patio, driveway, walkway, sidewalk, and parking lot will remain intact.
Two Different Types of Trenchless Sewer Repair
Trenchless Sewer Pipe Lining
The trenchless sewer pipe lining approach is used by forward-thinking plumbing contractors, like Sewer Co when there is enough damage to the existing sewer pipeline that it needs immediate attention. However, it can only be performed if the existing sewer pipeline is not broken to the point where it needs replacement. A small access point is made at one end of the pipeline. A high-tech machine inserts a specially formulated wet epoxy resin into the sewer pipes through the access point. The wet epoxy completely covers all interior surfaces of the existing sewer pipeline.
The lining material cures in place within a few hours to form a hard epoxy pipe liner that in essence is a brand new pipe within the existing one. It effectively seals any leaks, chips, cracks, breaks, and rotten spots and prevents any further damage from occurring. The new pipe within a pipe will last for fifty years or even longer. Trenchless sewer pipe lining is approximately fifty-percent more cost-effective than the traditional excavation method.
Trenchless Pipe Bursting
The trenchless pipe bursting approach is used when the existing pipeline is broken or compromised to the point that the pipe lining method will not work. It requires two small access points, one at each end of the sewer pipeline. A different high-tech machine installs a continuous plastic PVC pipe into the existing sewer pipeline. As the new pipe is being blown, pushed, or pulled through it burst or breaks the existing sewer pipes into a bunch of fragmented pieces.
The pieces burst in an outward motion and are dispersed into the ground where they are left to harmlessly rot away. Once the process is complete the new PVC pipe takes the place of the old sewer pipeline. It will last for fifty years or more. Trenchless pipe bursting is significantly less expensive than the traditional excavation method.
