There are far too many residential, commercial, and industrial property owners that are completely unaware of their options regarding major sewer repairs, system overhauls, and even complete replacements of the sewer pipeline. When most people think of this type of plumbing work they picture large excavation trucks digging a long and destructive trench along the length of the sewer pipeline. This is due to the fact that plumbing contractors had no choice but to physically expose the sewer pipes in order to make the necessary repairs.
That is until trenchless sewer repair techniques were invented approximately fifteen years ago. Having your landscaping and hardscaping ruined by backhoes and bulldozers can be a thing of the past. You no longer need to sit by and watch as your lawn, flowerbeds, favorite tree, mulch beds, shrubs, driveway, patio, walkway, sidewalk, or parking lot are destroyed. You no longer need to wait for weeks on end for the plumbing contractor to complete the job only to leave you with an ugly scar at your home, place of work, or investment property.
The plumbing contractor is only responsible for filling the trench back in with dirt. You must make arrangements and pay to have the landscaping and hardscaping replaced. The good news is that trenchless sewer repair relies on advanced plumbing technology as opposed to excavation. There are actually two types of trenchless sewer repair available to property owners in the Pasadena, Texas area. Forward thinking plumbing contractors, like Sewer Co will determine which one to use based on the current condition of the sewer pipeline.
The Trenchless Pipe Lining Process
The trenchless pipe lining process is utilized if the existing sewer pipeline is in somewhat decent shape, meaning there may be chips, cracks, rotten spots, and small breaks in the sewer pipes. Instead of excavating a large and destructive trench only a small access point is needed at one end of the pipeline. A high-tech machine utilizes the access point to install a wet epoxy resin liner that covers all interior surfaces of the existing sewer pipeline.
The wet epoxy resin cures in place within a few hours. Once it dries a pipe liner or pipe within a pipe is formed. The new liner fixes any damage to the existing sewer pipeline and prevents further problems from occurring. It will last for a minimum of fifty years. The entire trenchless pipe lining process takes as little as one day to complete from start to finish. It is also approximately fifty-percent more cost effective than the traditional excavation method.
The Trenchless Pipe Bursting Process
The trenchless pipe bursting process is utilized if the existing sewer pipeline is broken to the point that pipe lining simply will not work. Instead of excavating a large and destructive trench only two small access points are needed, one at each end of the pipeline. A different high-tech machine utilizes the access points to install a one piece, continuous plastic PVC pipe into the sewer pipeline. As the new PVC pipe is being pushed, pulled, or blown through the line the old sewer pipes burst apart in an outward motion.
The fragmented pieces are disbursed into the earth where they are left to harmlessly rot away. When the process is complete the new PVC sewer pipeline completely replaces the old one. It will last for a minimum of fifty years. The entire trenchless pipe bursting process takes as little as one day to complete from start to finish. It is also significantly more cost effective than the traditional excavation method.
